Aqsa Altaf was raised in Kuwait by Muslim, Pakistani and Sri Lankan parents who were migrant workers. She immigrated to the US in 2013.   

Aqsa wrote and directed "American Eid" for Disney's Launchpad series, which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award and is currently streaming on Disney+. Her short film, "Awayy," premiered at SXSW and is being developed into a feature film, while her feature project "Sonapur" was showcased at the Gotham Film Market.

Aqsa is a Sundance Building Bridges Fellow and a recipient of the Pillars Artist Fellowship, a program founded by Riz Ahmed and Pillars Fund. In addition to her narrative work, she directs commercials and branded films.
